John M. Kitzmiller, II, MS, AG®, FSG, FRSAI, FSA (Scot), is one of the premier British genealogists in the United States. He has been doing family history research professionally for over 20 years. He has taken numerous research trips to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany and parts of the United States. He has visited and conducted research in most archives and record repositories in the British Isles. He is a Heraldist, specializing in British Military records, Heraldry, including design of coats of arms, British, Irish, North American and German research. He is an accredited genealogist in English and Scottish sources. He is a Fellow of the Society of Genealogists (England), Fellow of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, Fellow of Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He has a Heraldry Accreditation, and belongs to the Heraldry Societies of Canada and of London, England. He has taught family history classes for several years. He can read records in German, Latin, Russian, Hungarian, French and Polish. He has been the state genealogist of the Sons of the American Revolution. He has lectured extensively at national conferences in the U.S. and Canada on Heraldry, Military Research and Genealogy for Great Britain, Europe, Ireland and the United States.
Mr. Kitzmiller also has done extensive research in Pennsylvania and New York Palatines. He has been a European and British Reference Consultant at the Genealogical Society of Utah. He also worked as a correspondence specialist for the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Germany and Eastern Europe; Pennsylvania & New York. He has also been a Research Consultant for Burke’s Peerage, London, England.
He is a member of several professional societies, including Society of Army Historical Research (England), Military History Society of Ireland, Victorian Military History Society, South African Military History Society, New South Wales Military Historical Society, Society of Genealogists (London), Heraldry Societies of Canada, Scotland, London, Ireland and Utah, as well as the East Yorkshire Family History Society.
Kitzmiller’s research, analytical and lecturing experience is extensive. He is very comfortable doing research on-site in Europe and is well-acquainted with the LDS Family History Library and its records.
